Sisters of the Presentation of Mary
Vocation
Jesus Christ is at the heart of our lives...
Could he be inviting you to let him be at the heart of your life?
Come! ... Live fully! ... Live daringly!
Be a voice of hope in the 21st century!
Marie Rivier received the grace of passionate love for Jesus Christ.
Her sole desire to belong totally to him inspired this ardent prayer:
Jesus, that I may live for you alone and that you alone may be everything
for me. For two centuries, Marie Rivier transmitted this totally demanding
love to thousands of women who have consecrated themselves entirely to the Lord
at Presentation of Mary. One day, they were challenged by the words of Jesus:
Come, follow me! It was a call that completely changed their lives.
Could this journey with Jesus be a lifetime adventure for you?
If so, Jesus invites you, "If you wish ... COME!" (MATTHEW 19:21)
Come... proclaim that God is love...
This is the Good News of the Gospel, Good News! But who will believe it if this gratuitous
love of the Lord is not visibly lived by Christians? A religious community is a place where
one wants to say to all: "Look! Love exists! God Loves You!"
HOW DO I BEGIN THIS ADVENTURE?
WHERE?
Pick up a phone, knock on our door, write a letter, inquire by e-mail, but especially call
1-800-GOD - that is ask the Spirit to guide your footsteps.

INQUIRY STAGE
This stage is for gathering information and inculcating in young women with the values of
religious life. It is a time for discerning whether God is truly calling a woman to consider
possibilities religious life offers. It is a time to visit, to become acquainted and to know
more about this vocation in the Church. The Vocation Director keeps in touch with the woman
and journeys with her in this time of search and prayer.

PRE-POSTULANCY
When a woman feels an attraction to the spirit lived at Presentation of Mary, she requests
to become a pre-postulant. This continues to be a time of discernment and mutual acquaintance.
Regular meetings with the director to discuss the work of the community, the woman's desires
with regard to religious life and a sense of continuing affinity with the community. The time
of Pre-postulancy is from six months to two years with some time spent in a live-in
experience at our House of Blessing. Each of these steps of the formation program is flexible
and attempts to meet the individual needs of a person.
POSTULANCY
In the due process of discernment and in dialogue with the pre-postulancy director,
the candidate may decide to write her letter requesting admission as a postulant. Usually some
of the time of postulancy, which is a flexible time span of six to twenty-four months,
is spent at the Novitiate as well and in a local community participating in one of the works
of the Congregation.
|
|
|
NOVITIATE
One year of this two year span of formation is spent at the Novitiate in study and prayer,
exploring vowed life, the spirit of the Congregation and the person's giftedness to respond
to God's call in this Congregation. During the second year of Novitiate, the novice will have
an apostolic experience in one of our local communities. At the end of this second year, she
will return to the novitiate to prepare for profession of first vows.
|
PROFESSION
Professing the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, the young woman publicly declares her
commitment to God and the Congregation in which she has pronounced her vows. Annual renewal
of vows takes place for five years with the possibility of an extension until nine years.
One year of this time of temporary vows is given as a year of renewal before perpetual vows.
|
PERPETUAL PROFESSION
In joy and responding to God's fidelity and love in her life, the temporary professed sister
pronounces her vows to God for life and becomes a member of this religious family forever.
She gives of herself in love, relying on God's love and desiring to live in response to the
charism of Marie Rivier our foundress, whose sole desire was to make Jesus Christ known
and loved everywhere.
